What "Quick-Dry" Actually Means
"Quick-dry" describes a fabric's ability to release absorbed moisture (sweat, rain, splash) into the surrounding air faster than ordinary cotton would. There are two mechanisms:

• Weave specification. Real quick-dry uses engineered weaves (dobby with channels, micro-pattern moisture wicking, or piqué in polos). Plain poplin without engineering rarely qualifies
• The drop test. Place a teaspoon of water on the inside fabric. Genuine quick-dry absorbs and disperses; ordinary cotton holds the wet patch for minutes
• Care label hints. Real quick-dry typically specifies "cold wash, no fabric softener, air-dry" - fabric softener clogs the moisture channels
• Brand transparency. Brands that genuinely engineer quick-dry typically discuss the mechanism (named treatment, weave technology). Vague claims often hide vague engineering

• Quick-dry gains: fast moisture recovery, less visible sweat, lower iron need, travel-friendly
